Lapoint
Welcome to The Farm
Lapoint Farms is located in an unincorporated community in western Uintah County, Utah and on the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation with a population of approximately 350 people. Lapoint’s elevation is 5,568 feet. Originally named Taft in honor of President William Howard Taft, the town’s name was changed to Lapoint since it lies on a southward-jutting spur or “point” of the Uinta Mountains.

The Northern Ute Indian Reservation was established in 1861 by an Abraham Lincoln presidential decree. The United States opened the reservation for homesteading by non-Native Americans in 1905. It was at this time that our family moved to Lapoint and homesteaded land. After working the land, the family was able to produce beautiful crops of hay, wheat and barley as well as beautiful vegetable gardens. In 1930 our grandparents built a home in Lapoint and lived there their entire lives. Area landmarks such as Taylor Mountain are named after family members. It was here, in Lapoint that as children we enjoyed spending time with our grandparents running, playing, tending crops and being with them which brought us so close to the earth and our heritage in this beautiful Northern Eastern part of Utah. Our forebears were amazing people who enjoyed and respected the land much as we do today. They were always taking us fishing to a place called “Paradise” and it was truly paradise and still is today. In 2010 we assumed responsibility for the family home, land and our heritage. To this end, we enjoy working with the land and trying our hands at growing many different things much as the family has always done. With the wonderful soil and climate, we are able to produce some amazing crops of vegetables and fruits. We have quite an amazing apple orchard with ten (10) varieties as well as other types of fruits including plums, apricots, cherries and pears. After settling in for a couple of years we decided to try making our own soap with goat’s milk. This process took a few months and many, many tries at getting it to actually turn out. After coming up with a soap recipe that we really liked, we started giving bars to family and friends to use and it became so popular, they kept asking for more and more. It was then that we realized it was such a good natural product that we should market it to you, our friends. Since then we have created an amazing goat milk lotion with several other products to come in the future. All of our products are handmade and in small batches to ensure a good quality product. We hope you enjoy the love that goes into each handmade product.
We are proud to bring our heritage of hand made products to you.
Goods
The Goat Milk Soaps are made completely by hand in small batches with pure goat milk, oils, and lye. Olive, Coconut and Palm Oil as well as a bit of vegetable oil are used which creates a very moisturizing bar of soap. Once the bars are made, they are then left to cure at least 90 days which produces a hard, beautiful moisturizing
bar of natural soap.
